April Lockhart

April Lockhart is a born July 4 in 1995. In the seventh grade she began to take piano and guitar lessons. It was this that ignited her love for songwriting. At the age of 12 April composed her first single Different. As April approached 14 years old, she dedicated an enormous amount of time creating song ideas and perfecting her music. Over the next few months, she began taking writing excursions with her father in LA in addition to NY. April included other subjects in her track, Take my Hand. These topics included topics for her friends who dealt with things like peer pressure issues or even teenage suicide thinking. Lockhart has become a sought-after lifestyle blogger and having partnerships with clean beauty brands Ilia and YSL, has cultivated her own audience. As a woman born with no left hand, Lockhart is an important part of her. However, it's not the entire tale. Lockhart's Instagram page doesn't overlook the fact that she has a disability. It also doesn't emphasize her disability. The message? It is important to remember that we all have many faces, our identities are varied and we are much beyond our body. Lockhart, via video message from Nashville home, says I don't want that to be a part of me. I'm more than my physical self. But it does not affect my everyday living. I do the things I normally would and have adapted to the limitations of my disability. It's also a part of me, and I believe it should be discussed. Lockhart inspires us to keep moving forward with self-acceptance. Lockhart admits to having been through phases in her life regarding her appearance, feeling uneasy in some instances to wear clothes that showed the arms of her. She dresses according to her preferences and proudly posts pictures of herself dressed in outfits she picks out on social platforms.
