Gerina-Piller
She was born in Roswell on March 29, 1985. Gerina Michel Mendoza was her name at birth. Gerina Stevenson was born to Mexican parents Rita Stevenson and Alan Stevenson. She is American and comes from a Mexican-American background. At a very young age the desire for her to be involved in sports was evident. Gerina first started golfing at the age of 15. Gerina completed her high school education through Goddard High School. When she was in high school, she won her first prize in the New Mexico state golf tournament. Along with playing volleyball, she also competed at the state level. In 2003, she started studying at The University of Texas. In her senior year, she won each tournament which she participated in. While in her undergrad year, she received as the conference's best player of year as well as UTEP Female Athletic Champion of the Year.
